Holy Baptism
Baptism with water in the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit constitutes full initiation into Christ's Body, the Church. Our baptismal vows define the shape of the entire Christian life.
While baptism is often administered to infants, non-baptized persons of any age are invited to consider and discuss with the clergy the possibility of being baptized.
Baptisms are especially appropriate on the First Sunday after the Epiphany, the Easter Vigil, Pentecost, All Saints Day, and during the Bishop's Visitation of the parish. Except in emergencies, Baptisms are not normally administered during Advent or Lent.
In cases of emergency, Baptism may be administered by a lay person, following the directions in the Book of Common Prayer on pages 314-315.
