Lay Leaders in Worship
In addition to the priest who presides at the Eucharist and preaches, worship at Saints Matthew and Mark depends on lay leaders in various roles:
If you would like to serve as part of our worship team, please speak to the Priest-in-Charge or the Senior Warden.
- Usher / Greeter
- Reader
- Intercessor
- Eucharistic Minister - a.k.a. "Chalice Bearer" (licensed by the Bishop)
- Choir Member
- Altar Guild Member
If you would like to serve as part of our worship team, please speak to the Priest-in-Charge or the Senior Warden.
In addition to those who assist at church services, Lay Eucharistic Visitors are trained and licensed to bring Holy Communion to those who are housebound or otherwise unable to be with us on Sunday mornings.
Lay Worship Leaders are trained and licensed to lead worship (usually Morning or Evening Prayer) in the absence of a member of the clergy.
All lay ministries in worship are undertaken at the request of and under the direction of the parish clergy. For more information on licensed lay ministries, please see the diocesan Lay Training and Licensing webpage.
